I have been asked whether I am working on a second book since I have finished my Ironman training (since the first book was about marathon training, Ironman training is only logical as number two, right?). I think those people are being kind. As if people are anticipating my next book.
The biggest mistake a writer can make is living as a writer. That's my opinion. I don't look for events that are curious or compelling. It seems to come naturally into people's lives. Writing about it simply appreciates the depth of events and words and people. The ultimate struggle between loving life and feeling complacent in its grind. The absurdity of the decisions we make are sometimes ridiculous when your view of life zooms out to see that it's a speck on a speck on a speck on a speck on a speck on a speck of the universe. That's why I hate to say I'm working on my second book.
I'm always writing two or three books. Life just hands you remarkable things and I try to appreciate them by capturing them with words.
