In a week that was surrounded by bodily harm and emotional distress, I have emerged victorious. As Nick Nolte said in New York Stories, "A day above ground is good day." My well being seems in tact. I won't go into details. No, don't ask. No! I said no! No means no! Sit down!
I've already gone into cryptic rants. I'll keep them posted because people who drink a couple beers on a bad day should learn their lesson.
But just by my ability to 'stick it out', I have taught Mother Nature a lesson that I can take everything turning on me.
And amidst the chaos, I do what I do best. I rebel by doing something stupid for the shock value.
I emailed the nice people of the North Face Endurance Challenge and told them that I would like to run the 50K. In no way am I prepared for this. I just finished running Lakefront where I failed to achieve my goals then injured myself. I had surgery last Friday and haven't run in a couple weeks.
Jeni woke at 1AM with our 3 year old Ian. Consistently, he's been getting up very early and it's starting to interfere with his day at school.
Meanwhile, the dog woke up and pissed all over the kennel and she was cleaning that up around 2:30 or 3:00. I woke up and asked her what was happening.
She yelled at me about the dog urinated in the kennel. I don't blame her for yelling.I would sucker punched anybody who would have gotten in my way at that point in the night.
I got up and she went to bed. Ian fell asleep on the couch watching Spongebob and Buster's calmed down. I feel bad that I got the fuzzy end of the stick.
But it's been a hard week and I'm glad it's ending on a high note.
I was turning right onto Williamson Street. A bright yellow car with a woman driving it (alone, mind you!) was behind me while I sat at the right turn red light where a sign reads, "No Turn on Red Light". I sat there and observed the woman behind me stretching her neck to see something out of her sight line.
I believe she was looking to see why I was just sitting there while traffic was clear. She was surely preparing herself for a small honk but the light changed just in time.
