Mike Long (www.thelonger.com) has referred to himself as a social rocktivist. If you have watched any videos on my blog, you've probably seen him a couple times. He dances in public places to songs that new, old and in between. He is usually seen in what he describes as "gorgeous" Hamilton, Ontario.
For over ten months, he has produced a dance video for every single day (http://www.youtube.com/user/dipsetmuthafucka). Even when he's traveling, he will shoot and upload his moves to his YouTube page. He promised from the beginning to make one a day for a whole year.
As time passes, you see how he changes. One month, his hair is overgrown with thirty days of beard growth. One month, you see him clean cut and well shaved. His t-shirts have different designs that sometime boast cereals or a unique design. He's what you would expect from someone who does what he does for free.
His equipment is minimal. He brings his laptop to a site and plays his music on it. The embedded camera shoots his performance. Because the camera is so small, many of the videos feature onlookers who don't understand what's happening (there's even a dog in one).
As he begins to look forward to the end of this ambitious project, he sends out a cry for help. He asked all viewers to suggest songs. He encourages Joy Division, James Brown and The Stooges. Also, Long reccomends sending personal favorites. Certainly, he has begun counting the days to the end.
In the the same plea, he talks about his uncertainty how this will end.
"Lost" makes my head hurt sometimes. I like to watch and investigate and theorize but I'm already getting burned out and we're only three episodes into the season. Ouch.
Maybe that's why the day after a Lost episode, I watched this and loved it. Online series are big with me.
